The Area Manager is responsible for insuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the administrative, regulatory reporting, performance, technical, personnel, client relations, and marketing aspects of operating multiple projects within an assigned area.
Assumes responsibility for insuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the Department by: a.
Formulating departmental goals, strategies, and operating policies and procedures and directing implementation of approved changesb Making recommendations on employees regarding employment, performance appraisal, salary changes, promotions, transfers, or terminationsc Insuring productivity levels are maintained through effective monitoring of staffing levels and financial requirementsd Guiding personnel to achieve optimum performance levels.
Reviews and monitor the financial performance of all project area assignedMeets with Assistant Managers to discuss regulatory sampling, personnel and compliance issues, operations, construction, billing and customer service issues and provides updates to superiorsMeets with clients, boards and engineers to discuss facility operations, maintenance and capital projects, billing and overall management of districtReviews and responds to clients¿½ regulatory correspondences with assistance from the Process SpecialistsComposes monthly reports for the areaWorks on purchase of material by reviewing purchase orders and p-card transactionsAssists with the development and implementation of client retention plansAssists in the training of personnel in troubleshooting facility and safety techniquesDevelops new client contacts and works with marketingEnsures training of operations and/or maintenance personnel on specific specialized equipment is complete and documentedEnsures compliance, distribution and training of all company standard operating procedures, Health & Safety procedures, and corporate policiesConducts routine facilities inspections with Assistant ManagerTracks and approves all work orders and purchase ordersUnderstands and adheres to all company health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functionsOther duties may be assignedBS/BA degree in a related field and 8-10 years related experience with 5 years in a supervisory role in the water and wastewater field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in use of Microsoft Office software (Word and Excel)Possess effective communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with deadlinesPossess general knowledge of operating, maintenance, billing, meter reading, and customer service functionsExperience presenting service related information to clientsOccasionally required to lift 50 pounds.
Valid driver’s license.
Level A or B Wastewater license is required.
