The position is based in our brand new Rockville, MD headquarters.
This is an opportunity to work with a great team of professionals in a fast-growing industry!JOB SUMMARY: The PV Design Engineer provides design deliverables to support commercial and/or utility-grade solar electric systems and signs off on projects as required in capacity as Professional Engineer.
He/she executes engineering and technical tasks of assigned projects from early stage site evaluation through permit completion and handover to Construction, and identifies the most appropriate technical and material solutions to optimize proposals.
Deliverables include equipment specifications, concept design drawings, site evaluation reports, interconnection and single line diagrams, final design drawings and specifications, and other supporting detail as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: · Design complete large-scale commercial-grade or utility-scale PV systems, including but not limited to, mounting systems, electrical configurations, requisite wire and conduit sizing according to NEC and Companys voltage standards, and generation of BOMs and detailed system production modeling.
· Conduct detailed site evaluations for targeted projects, including but not limited to, due diligence review, proposal development and pre-engineering support to Sales, Finance and Construction.
· Coordinate with structural and electrical Professional Engineers during design process to assure technical and code requirements are met, including obtaining PE stamps on drawings.
· Maintain constant communication with key members of Sales and other departments as needed to ensure optimal system design, including but not limited to, design workload reporting for use in forecasting and scheduling.
· Develop necessary customer deliverables such as concept module layouts, single line diagrams, equipment or material specifications, engineering validation, 3-D renderings and photo simulations.
· Provide engineering and/or technical input and direction relevant to site evaluation and characterization, permitting, PPAs, Interconnection Agreements, financial modeling, and related project development tasks.
· Meets and/or exceeds established performance objectives of assigned duties as defined and communicated by management.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: High school diploma and Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required (BSEE, BSME, BSCE, BSCHE) with some structural experience.
Current PE license in MD, VA and/or DC or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire and NABCEP preferred.
Five (5) years experience in mechanical, architectural, or electrical engineering design required with prior experience in the solar industry preferred.
Project management experience, including but not limited to, development, permitting, conceptual and detailed design, and engineering.
Strong organizational skills required.
Understanding and working familiarity with current AutoCAD software version, as well as MS Office suite.
